Died while Prisoner of War Died January 22, 1951 in Korea Sergeant Bailey was a member of Company L, 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy near Chochiwon, South Korea on July 11, 1950, forced to march to North Korea on the "Tiger Death March", and died at prisoner of war camp, Chunggang-jin, North Korea on January 22, 1951 of malnutrition and dysentery. His remains were not recovered. Sergeant Bailey was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Prisoner of War Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
